SPRING/Ghana developed this farmer field school (FFS) curriculum to improve farming practices and increase aflatoxin-safe groundnut crops for better household nutrition.
A community health worker comes across a man who is doing something he hasn’t seen before. When he asks, the man explains that he is drying potato leaves that he will be able to save in clean, dry containers so that his children will have healthy foods during the lean season. The health worker is impressed and encourages M. Faro to show his neighbors what he is doing and encourage them to do the same.
On August 9, 2017, SPRING/Senegal and partner radio station Niombato FM organized a promotional hike in Toubacouta Village. Over 100 hikers marched a total of 5 miles, wearing t-shirts bearing messages on nutrition, agriculture, gender, and hygiene. Participants passed through three villages and shared information with villagers. The messages were also recorded and broadcast on all of six of SPRING’s partner radio stations.
Hunger and malnutrition continue to be major global issues. SPRING collects evidence and shares experience and tools for development practitioners who are designing programs to alleviate hunger and improve nutrition globally.

Then Ganabi joined a farmer field school (FFS) managed by SPRING, USAID’s multi-sectoral nutrition project. The FFS trainings teach farmers good agronomic practices, which make it easier to grow and harvest healthier crops with greater yields.
