The Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) Movement’s 2013 Progress Report pointed to the importance of in-country resource availability and mobilization, and highlighted the challenges countries face in tracking resources destined for nutrition programming. The success of national nutrition plans relies heavily on adequate funding, but because of its multisectoral nature, planning and budgeting for nutrition work is not easy.
This brief is part a series of "interim" technical briefs, culminating in a final two-year study report in 2016.

SPRING recognizes the key role adequate financing plays in any effort to improve nutrition at scale. In line with other efforts to identify and track nutrition spending, SPRING has developed a methodology for this work that emphasizes the multisectoral nature of nutrition and encourages local ownership of the process, through technical assistance and provision of tools to country-level policymakers.
