Analyzing Findings and Developing Recommendations with Stakeholders in Nigeria

In collaboration with UNICEF and the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), SPRING carried out an evaluation of the Community Infant and Young Child Feeding (C-IYCF) Counselling Package in Nigeria. In September 2017, SPRING, UNICEF, and the FMOH presented and discussed findings from the evaluation with key stakeholders during two events - one in Abuja and another in Kaduna state, where the evaluation was conducted.

Sharing the results of the Nigeria C-IYCF Counselling Package Evaluation

UNICEF, the Nigeria Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH), and SPRING carried out an evaluation of the Community Infant and Young Child Feeding (C-IYCF) Counselling Package in Nigeria. On January 31st, 2018 SPRING staff Peggy Koniz-Booher and Sascha Lamstein, along with consultant Rafael Pérez-Escamilla, shared the findings of this evaluation during a two-hour dissemination event, at UNICEF’s headquarters in New York City.

SPRING Places in Top Three for Zilient’s 2017 Resilience Awards

SPRING’s community-led video approach to improve nutrition in Niger and Burkina Faso received over 6,000 votes in Zilient’s 2017 Resilience Awards, earning it a third place finish among over 40 submissions.

SPRING worked with key populations in the African Sahel to create locally owned and operated video production "hubs" that produced video messaging to encourage improved nutrition and hygiene behaviors.

SPRING/Senegal Celebrates End of 18 Months of Implementation with Close-out Ceremonies in Kaolack and Dakar

The ceremony in Kaolack took place on October 11, 2017 and honored SPRING staff, partners, and community members and showcased the project’s success in an interactive manner. The ceremony in Dakar took place on October 17th and was attended by USAID Senegal mission director, Lisa Franchett and national coordinator of the Unit for the Fight against Malnutrition, Abdoulaye Ka. Guests at both ceremonies visited different stands to learn about SPRING’s achievements in nutrition-sensitive agriculture, SBCC, gender and WASH.

Supportive Supervision Brings Better Health Services to the Kyrgyz Republic

In 2015, the USAID-funded SPRING project began working with the MOH to improve infant and young child feeding (IYCF) and anemia counseling for patients in health facilities in Naryn and Jalal-Abad oblasts. To ensure the quality of these sessions, SPRING developed checklists and guidelines for line supervisors to assess health workers’ on-the-job performance following clinical trainings. These new tools were designed to provide ongoing support for skill retention and quality of services.

SPRING Disseminates Program Survey Results at Round Table Event

SPRING/Kyrgyz Republic, funded by USAID to address issues of chronic malnutrition and anemia among women and children of Kyrgyz Republic, hosted a round table event on Friday, November 17, 2017 to disseminate the findings from a series of four population-level surveys undertaken by the project over the past four years, including gains in nutrition outcome indicators.
