SPRING provides technical support to the Kyrgyz Republic Ministry of Health (MoH) to develop national guidelines related to anemia prevention and control, as well as prevention and treatment of helminth infestation in the country. Following the adoption of the two guidelines as law by the Kyrgyz Parliament, SPRING conducted a training of trainers for a cadre of national-level staff, who will train sub-national staff on anemia prevention and control. The new policies, which are a first for the Kyrgyz Republic, recommend iron folic acid supplementation to women of reproductive age, including pregnant women, and promote presumptive deworming. SPRING has also assisted the MoH in developing behavior change materials that advocate for prevention of helminth infections mainly through water, sanitation, and hygiene interventions.
