Training is part of SPRING/Haiti’s work to expand the integration of the nutrition assessment, counseling, and support (NACS) approach in Haiti. SPRING/Haiti supports the roll out of two training packages: an infant and young child feeding (IYCF) counseling training package developed jointly by SPRING/Haiti and the Ministère de la Santé Publique et de la Population (MSPP); and a NACS training package developed jointly by the Food and Nutrition Technical Assistance (FANTA) project and the MSPP. The training packages were designed to be used together for complementarity in a traditional workshop-style training methodology, as well as an on-the-job training (OJT) methodology. The innovative OJT methodology is designed for master trainers from each facility to train health workers on-site over approximately ten weeks using a series of concise and practical two- to three-hour modules. Since 2013, SPRING/Haiti has trained 50 master trainers from 12 health facilities. These 12 health facilities have either completed or are in-progress with rolling out the packages to health workers from the pediatric, ANC, and prenatal units at their facilities. SPRING/Haiti has also trained master trainers within the MSPP at the national and departmental level to help ensure sustainability.
