SPRING, in collaboration with the European Union, USAID, UNICEF, and Community Connector is supporting the Uganda government’s launch of Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) on February 23, 2013. The launch aims to highlight initial success in scaling up high-impact nutrition interventions within a group of districts, including Ibanda, Kabale, Kanungu, Kisoro, and Ntungamo. SPRING is working with the Ugandan Ministry of Health and community groups in Southwestern Uganda to improve food security and nutritional outcomes and strengthen the health system’s ability to treat malnutrition within health facilities and to prevent malnutrition among communities. SPRING has recently completed a study of nutrition assessment, counseling and support (NACS) services in Southwest Uganda that will provide important information to better target interventions and support future advocacy efforts.
