As part of SPRING/Bangladesh's ongoing efforts to mobilize communities around improved nutrition, SPRING/Bangladesh regularly participates in government-organized agricultural fairs. Last week, SPRING/Bangladesh manned a booth and gave out important information about Essential Nutrition Actions and Essential Hygiene Actions during a fair in Dumuria Upazila, a sub-district of Khulna Division. During the fair, SPRING/Bangladesh presented the different types of interventions that are being implemented in the upazila. The Honorable State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock, Mr. Narayan Chandra Chanda, the Additional Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension of Khulna Division, Kbd. Sk. Hemayet Hossain, the Upazila Chairman, Mr. Md. Khan Ali Monsur, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, Mr. Muhammad Samsuddouza, and the Upazila Agriculture Officer of Dumuria, Kbd. Md. Nazrul Islam, were all present and visited the SPRING booth. The Honorable State Minister washed his hands using a tippy tap installed by and promoted by SPRING and was very impressed. SPRING/Bangladesh promotes the use of tippy taps as part of its essential hygiene actions as a small, doable action that provides an easy to access and easy to maintain water station that encourages improved hand hygiene at the homestead.
