Integration and Coordination in Guatemala

Despite worldwide efforts to reach the Millennium Development Goal target of halving the proportion of people who suffer from hunger by 2015, 165 million children remain stunted and 870 million people are chronically undernourished. The 2013 Lancet Series on Maternal and Child Nutrition points to a growing consensus that combating the global burden of malnutrition will require collaboration across development sectors.

Agriculture and Nutrition Program Integration in the Western Highland of Guatemala

USAID | Guatemala is actively supporting the coordination of development initiatives under Feed the Future, bringing agriculture and nutrition partners together through the newly-created Western Highlands Integrated Program (WHIP). Strategy development, procurement principles, and close partner collaboration are leading principles and actions in the implementation of the program.

Agriculture and Nutrition Global Learning and Evidence Exchange - Latin America and the Caribbean

In March 2013, the SPRING project hosted an Agriculture and Nutrition Global Learning and Evidence Exchange (AgN-GLEE) event entitled Strengthened and Sustainable Linkages among Agriculture, Economic Growth, and Nutrition in Guatemala City, Guatemala. This three-day learning workshop focused on strengthening and aligning current and new Feed the Future (FTF) investments to achieve nutrition outcomes in the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) Region.
