Successes in Multi-Sectoral Nutrition: Sharing Lessons Learned from SPRING/Ghana

On September 7, 2017, SPRING/Ghana hosted an event to share important lessons learned and accomplishments in improving maternal and child nutrition outcomes in Ghana from 2014 to 2017. This event was chaired by the Regional Director of the Ghana Health Service for the Northern Region, Naa Dr. Jacob Y. Mahama, and the guest of honor Regional Minister for the Northern Region, the Honorable Salifu Saeed.

Introducing New SPRING - UNICEF Resources to Develop/Adapt High Quality Images for Nutrition

High-quality visual images are an essential component of nutrition and health social and behavior change (SBC) programming but can be difficult to find or produce. In 2010, UNICEF and partners developed an integrated nutrition SBC package known as the Community Infant and Young Child Feeding (C-IYCF) Counselling Package – investing in high-quality graphic illustrations for low-literacy contexts.

SPRING/Ghana Launches Nut Roasting Equipment as a Partnership with USAID and Hershey

On August 21, SPRING/Ghana participated in an event in Kumasi celebrating the launch of new groundnut roasting equipment. SPRING procured this equipment as part of a public-private partnership between USAID and Hershey to help Project Peanut Butter in its work to provide safe, nutritious foods to the children of Ghana.

SPRING Helps Launch Groundnut Roaster as Part of Public-Private Partnership Between USAID and Hershey

On August 21, 2017, SPRING participated in an event commemorating the launch of nut roasting equipment in Kumasi, Ghana. This equipment was purchased through SPRING as part of the public-private partnership between USAID and Hershey, to be used by Project Peanut Butter in their work to provide safe, nutritious foods to children in Ghana. The use of the groundnut roasting equipment will contribute to the groundnut value chain in Ghana, help increase the incomes of Ghanaian groundnut farmers, and open a new market for Ghana to export high-quality raw groundnuts.

This tutorial demonstrates the steps of the technical process, from reference photography to line drawing, color, volume, patterns, and a final image for layout. The video is intended as a visual companion to the Photo-to-Illustration Guide. Both program managers and illustrators alike can use the video to understand the process and begin to create their own high-quality images.

SPRING Hosts Joint Working Group Meeting on Service Integration for Nutrition, Family Planning, and Immunization

These images capture some of the key moments from the day-long joint MIYCN-FP-Immunization meeting on June 14, 2017. The 46 attendees (plus 13 remote participants) listened to eight technical presentations facilitated by their colleagues and engaged in large-group plenary discussions as well as small-group breakout sessions. The goal of the meeting was to share experiences, findings, and lessons learned in order to identify ways to increase synergy and use existing platforms to integrate and strengthen provision of nutrition, FP, and immunization services.
