The Government of Uganda Launches the National Advocacy and Communication Strategy

The Prime Minister of Uganda, Rt. Hon. Ruhakana Rugunda, launched Uganda’s Nutrition Advocacy and Communication (NA&C) Strategy during the 6th edition of the Africa Day for Food and Nutrition Security held at Munyonyo Resort Hotel in Kampala. The NA&C Strategy aims at using communication to support the pro-nutrition activities and household practices contained in the Uganda Nutrition Action Plan (UNAP), 2011-2016, to reduce chronic undernutrition as measured by rates of young child stunting and other nutritional deficiencies, especially anemia.

SPRING/Bangladesh Launches Facebook Page for Local Nutrition and Hygiene Discussions

Bangladesh has seen a surge in the number of Internet users, but for many people in the country, the use of Internet is limited to Facebook. With this in mind, SPRING/Bangladesh has launched its own Facebook page. This will further strengthen the project’s connection with the local audience with bilingual content and also build an online community that can take part in discussions and debates on nutrition and hygiene.

Contributing to National-Level Nutrition Coordination and Policy Efforts

SPRING and its partners catalyze national-level dialogue around nutrition. Specifically, SPRING supports the secretariat of the Government-led IYCF technical working group, where the project is recognized as a great contributor with in-depth, technical nutrition knowledge. In addition, SPRING participates in other national nutrition coordination and technical fora, including the Civil Society for Scaling Up Nutrition in Nigeria (CS-SUNN), National Nutrition Partners Meeting, and Nutrition Society of Nigeria.
