Multi-Sectoral Anemia Platforms: Uganda

At the request of the Government of Uganda, SPRING has been supporting a country-driven process to address anemia and to strengthen multi-sectoral and multi-stakeholder anemia programming. SPRING started by conducting a landscape analysis to better understand the factors contributing to anemia. The analysis was disseminated by national-level partners, who hosted a national anemia stakeholder meeting to develop consensus around anemia causes, geographic distribution, and priority interventions in Uganda. The meeting spurred the Ministry of Health (MoH) to revitalize the National Anemia Working Group, which in turn developed the Uganda Anemia Action Plan and anemia strategy. SPRING provides continual technical assistance on anemia in Uganda through this working group and other efforts.
